Nutrition

Many older adults, especially those who live alone, may no longer have the desire or skills to cook nutritious meals for themselves.

Nutrition plays an integral role in keeping older adults healthy and independent by preventing malnutrition, reducing the risk of chronic diseases and related disabilities, supporting better mental and physical functioning, and managing common chronic diseases such as diabetes. Good nutrition is vital in helping older adults remain healthy, physically active and independent with a good quality of life.

Nutritional well-being, along with physical activity and social interaction, are essential to quality of life because they promote health, independence and functionality. Research shows that a healthy diet and physical activity are more important than heredity in avoiding declines associated with aging.

All of our independent living communities provide a minimum of two meals per day, our assisted living and memory care communities provide three meals per day plus snacks. The chefs at each community take pride in producing varied menus of delicious and nutritious meals including local favorites. They can also accommodate special dietary requirements.
