The Birches at Arbour Square Breaks Ground on New Assisted Living Community
"Adding the Assisted Living component to our community will allow our residents to move to a higher level of care when they need it without leaving the campus," said John Mershon, President of Westrum Development Company. "The Assisted Living building will have the same look and feel as our Independent Living building and will provide the same high quality of services they now receive at Arbour Square, located on the same campus." “Our goal has been to provide an affordable option for moderate and middle income seniors in this area," added David Lovitz, President of Heritage Senior Living. "Our community has month-to-month leases but does not have the large buy-in fees that many other retirement communities require." The Birches at Arbour Square will be comprised of 69 studio and one bedroom apartments and will feature beautifully appointed commons areas, a movie theater, beauty parlor, library, physical fitness facility, and rehabilitation and physical therapy rooms. Residents will enjoy three meals per day served restaurant style in the dining room, an activities room, and a computer lab, where residents can engage in a brain fitness program. Completion of The Birches at Arbour Square is scheduled for late spring, 2009. As with Arbour Square, apartments at The Birches can be leased on a month to month basis without an entrance fee.
Lt. Governor Catherine Baker Knoll Presides at Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
“I am delighted to be an eyewitness to this event, to wish the best for all who will live here, and to commend those who created this place that will mean so much to so many, “ said Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll. “We are very pleased that the Lieutenant Governor recognized the opening of our senior community as a special community event. Traditions of Hershey will not only serve as an independent living community for our residents, but we will also serve the community as a venue for special events and meetings, as well as a resource and educational center for area seniors,” said Lisa Allen, Executive Director of Traditions of Hershey. Residents began to move into Traditions of Hershey in early January, 2008. The public Grand Opening event will take place in April, 2008. The public will be invited to attend Traditions of Hershey community events held throughout the year.
The Chestnut Knoll team has also raised funds for local organizations in their community of Boyertown, PA.
